This is the Minoru 3D Webcam, the worlds first 3D webcam!Click the image on the left to enlarge it.
The webcam uses 2 cameras spaced the same distance apart as human eyes to create the effect. Viewers have to wear special 3D glasses (5 come when you buy the product) to see the 3D effect.
The webcam works like any normal webcam. You simply plugin the USB lead and away you go. It is available at Firebox for £50 / $73 / €52 – this excludes postage which will vary on your location.
Key Info
- Compatible with Windows Live Messenger, Skype, AOL, OoVoo and all other major Instant Messaging software.
- Can record 3D videos (you could then upload them to YouTube)
- Camera can also be used to take still images
- Can still be used like a normal 2D webcam when your friends don’t have the glasses
For £50/$73 I think this is a cool gadget for the money. Over at Gizmodo they seem to think it is expensive but I disagree. Because you can record 3D videos, take still images and use it as a traditional 2D webcam anyway I think it is good value for money – and it looks cool as well!
