Samsung Pixon: Digitpedia Hands-On Review

Samsung PixonSamsung have always been third best when it comes to the mobile phone market, Nokia and Sony Ericsson have always seem to beat them when it comes to design and usability.

However, we have now seen the advent of the eagerly awaited Samsung Pixon, maybe the sign of an era of great innovations and good times for the Samsung community.

This isn’t so much the iPhone Killer, since the iPhone is in an inferior league of its own with lackluster features and a terrible camera to match.

No, this Samsung Pixon is up their, with most innovative of the Smart Phones to this day, I managed to get a hands on review for this touch screen delight. It features a high quality 8MP Camera, which can take fantastic landscape shots, portraits and even more than a glimmer of the Porsche that, ran past the Samsung Dealer. Leaving that aside the Video capability is wear it shines, the microphone is extremely clear and doesn’t pick up the natter of passer byers, as for the video, it produces dvd like motion capture in more ways than one, the video itself is high quality and the output goes straight into divX, so its instantly ready to be burned onto a dvd for your viewing pleasure.

The 3.2 inch Touch screen felt more fluid and responsive than the LG Renoir, it does have some drawbacks as it is on its on proprietary operating system, not all Symbian based applications will work on the Pixon, I experienced a small problem trying to a mobile messenger service, it didn’t load correctly and refused to work after two goes.

All in all, I would still rate this quite highly; in fact, this would suit in being a handy backup for your digital and camcorder.

The Samsung Pixon is out now available to buy. Read more on the Samsung website.
