RealView 3D Scanner – Capture Objects In Full 360 Degree Form

I’ve not yet seen it in action – but this looks brilliant! It is the RealView 360 3D. It is a desktop 3D scanner, so you can capture objects in their full 360 degree form!

It is perfect for scanning any small objects (like the random snowman you can see in the picture). The image can be rendered and viewed from any vantage point desired by using a mouse to position the viewing angle. This will allow you to see all the bumps, lumps, and contours of your object.

The technology is based on that used in medical cameras for non-evasive surgery, the scanner is being billed as low cost but as yet we don’t know what the price will be.

In total there are 3 models:
    Realview 3D 360 – scans objects in 360 degree VGA resolution
    Realview 3D 360 HD – scans objects in 360 degree HD resolution
    Realview 3D Commercial – for larger format and kiosk applications

The scanner is being shown off at CES2009 so it will be great to get some hands-on reviews of the product!
