HP Pavilion dv5-1111ea (FV683EA) Hands On Review

HP Pavilion dv5-1111ea (FV683EA)When it comes to computers, Hewlett Packard has always been a staple favourite of computer users worldwide. The Pavilion series has been around for almost 15 years, and proven to be its most successful line of computer hardware.

It doesn’t disappoint me this time either; lets first have a look at the looks of this charming piece of technology. This laptop simply looks conservative, yet trendy and handsome. It’s sleek yet sophisticated gaze give it that very clean and clutter-free image.

Then we come onto layman’s spec overview of the machine, the laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium installed as standard. An AMD Turion™ X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 Processor for lightening speed application loading and A Mighty 4GB of RAM so your laptop is well fed and doesn’t suffer from poor performance.

Using this machine was probably one of my greatest technological moments over the past two years. It was so simple and efficient to use, it gave me no headaches, and it booted up to the desktop within a matter of seconds. The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 Graphics is fantastic, I tried playing Gears of War on the laptop, and it loaded and played with ease, a game that normally demands so much from today’s pc was easily rendered with this great laptop in Full HD on 15.4″ High Definition BrightView Widescreen, which completely blew my mind away. The Speaker system was crystal clear, it almost enlightened my sense of taste whilst listening to compositions and playing games.

It even comes with a built in Web camera and Microphone, which faired quite well to my rushed converstations and the hand movement frantics on Windows Live Messenger. This would be a great tool to film videos of yourself for youtube.

Now it comes to the practicality of the laptop, it’s pretty light; especially for something that packs so much into your laptop experience, around 2.6kg in weight and gives an ample 5-6 hours of battery charge, dependent on the use of course.

There is however a drawback, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 Graphics will automatically use upto 1.5gb of your memory, to bring you a complete High Definition or high quality gaming experience.

However, that was the only drawback I found on the machine, it’s pretty much flawless and is instantly one of my favourite pieces of technology ever!

I definitely recommend the Pavilion a must buy for anyone and everyone. It is available to buy now from Amazon.co.ukfor around £577 (at time of posting), for other regions please check your local Amazon for prices.
