How NOT To Get Fired Because Of YouTube – 9 Incognito Tips!

Posted on 10 November 2008 by Chris Satchwell

Hide Behind Book From Lurkers!Employers sometimes search employees names in Google to see what they get up to in their spare time. So if you are a MySpace whore, Facebook fanatic or in love with YouTube then you need to be careful that your public profile doesn’t make you look like a complete tit!

Recently a British journalist called Adam Smith was sacked because of a drunken YouTube video which attracted 285,000 views.

Here Are 9 Ways To Make Sure YouTube Doesn’t Get You Fired!

  • Don’t make your username your real name or even your nickname! If your YouTube username is “adamsmith” its a bit obvious it’s you!
  • Don’t use a photo of your face as an avatar. Use a picture of a pretty woman in a tiny bikini or something instead.
  • Don’t put your real name or too many personal details in your user profile, no one really cares anyway.
  • Basically just don’t put your real name anywhere! (video descriptions, bulletins, comments, tags).
  • Don’t link to your YouTube profile or videos from Facebook, Bebo, Myspace, blah, blah, blah, blah or anywhere else.
  • Make that drunken video private, then you can only share it with people you select!
  • Don’t add other “users” as friends who the people searching for you may know about.
  • Don’t upload a video slagging off your employers or mocking anyone you work with, even if they are a right bunch of twits – that tip’s a bit obvious.
  • If worst comes to worst then heck – deny it all!! They’ll never prove anything!

Remember that nearly everyone uses the web nowadays so you never know which one of your fellow workers may stumble across your YouTube videos or profile.

So there you have 9 ways so stay incognito on YouTube and stop yourself from getting fired.

Well if I wanted to be incognito now, it would be a little too late, cause my videos have been watched over 1.6 million times.
