Has Blackberry Lost Its Blackberryness With The Storm?

New Blackberry Storm 2008October 8th was when the new Blackberry Storm was unveiled, and the media vultures have been out ever since. The fact it’s a touch screen seems to be the hottest topic. But the reason many people like to have a Blackberry instead of an Apple iPhone is because a Blackberry has a proper keypad.

So have Blackberry lost there Blackberryness with the storm?

For a start blackberryness is a terrible word so I apologise in advance. But anyway. I have a Blackberry Pearl myself so do know a thing or two about them. I had the choice of the Pearl and the iPhone but chose the Pearl, I’m glad I did.

I think my Blackberry Pearl is a good looking phone. But I think the Blackberry Storm, has taken it to a new level! It is even more sleek and smart looking. However I think that is where my praise may stop.

For a start it doesn’t even have wifi – my pearl does, secondly the keyboard changes on how you hold it (tilt sensor same as iPhone), thirdly the menus are supposed to be fiddly and finally I’ve read reports of the devices constantly having problems like freezing, rebooting and controls not even responding.

Ultimately for me the fact alone it is a touchscreen means I would never buy it. Chuck in the other supposed problems and I definitely won’t switch to the Storm. My Pearl has been good to me, and long may it continue!

Overall I think it is still recognisable as a Blackberry and Im sure many Blackberry fans will love it, but I do feel it has lost a little of it’s Blackberryness.

What do you think of the new Blackberry Storm?
