Soon Google May Save You Money As Well! Google PowerMeter

I think we all have a lot to thank Google for. Their search facility alone is enough; it gives such great results compared to competitors that finding the exact information you want nowadays is generally a doddle. Not to mention their whole host of other free services.

Now though they may also begin saving us money! Google PowerMeter is a prototype that would allow you to monitor electricity use right on your computer. In their own words:

Google PowerMeter, now in prototype, will receive information from utility smart meters and energy management devices and provide anyone who signs up access to her home electricity consumption right on her iGoogle homepage.
