Google Is 10 Years Old - What’s Next For Big G?

Posted on 27 September 2008 by Chris Satchwell

Yesterday Google turned 10 years old. You can currently see a special birthday Doodle on the Google homepage to commemorate the event (be quick, it will be gone soon!). They have also put together a 10th Birthday feature which has an interactive timeline thru the years.

No doubt it has been an incredible decade for the company. The size and strength of Google is immense and it shows no signs of slowing down!

So What’s Next For Google?
Starting now is Project 10 to the 100th, the Big G’s $10,000,000 attempt change the world! In their own words:

Project 10100 (pronounced “Project 10 to the 100th”) is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.

Take a look and submit your ideas by October 20th 2008 to get involved, you just might be able to make a difference.

In recent days Google has announced the first phone to be powered using Google’s Android mobile operating system. In July this year they also launched Knol to challenge the mighty Wikipedia. No doubt these services will continue to grow and we will hear a lot more about them.

For webmasters Google also continue to develop advertising methods and help webmasters monetize their websites.

What else has Google got up its sleeve? The improvements to Google Maps will be interesting, seeing the world in 3D from your own computer at home is quite something! As for other new products and services - who knows, more takeovers maybe?

What do you think Googles next move will be?

bit of a wild idea but, bear with me. With the release of chrome, and the success of their online office ‘web apps’ and androids release. it looks like google maybe slowly gearing up for the next step, a full blown desktop OS. Obviously not for a while, but give it a few more years.

They must be bricking it over in Redmond!

Yeah their own OS sounds about right to me, and seems logical given their advances. I think Microsoft have been constantly bricking it for years anyway as Google constantly hammers them!
