Have you ever heard of the GCHQ organisation? If not, they are one of Britain's intelligence and security agencies. And they have a website that allows you to find out if you could be a code breaker or not.
I am being serious they really do! This is not a 007 movie, but real life. The website is called 'Can you Find it?' and is very simple. It contains a block of code on the homepage and you have to be a code-breaker and work it out. There are no instructions, no tips or anything like that, you simply have to "get cracking" (pun intended!).
What's in it for you?
If you are into this sort of thing, or even slightly interested, then surely the pleasure of solving it is reward enough. I would be absolutely chuffed if I worked it out! But if that isn't enough for you, then maybe a career is. A job at GCHQ with a salary anywhere from £26k up to £60k might be there for you. As careers go that seems like a very interesting one. And obviously it would be very cool to say what you do when you introduce yourself to new people.
Failing that there are still some other cool gadgets up for grabs. 100 Raspberry Pi's and 5 Google Nexus & tablets are ready to be won.
I can't do it!
I have visited the website a few times over the last few days in preparation for this post. And done a bit of googling to try and work out where the hell I even start. To be honest I was hoping to have made some good progress and be able to sit here writing how smart I am. But no, that certainly isn't the case. I have no idea what sort of process you go through with these sorts of things. I notice a few basic things such as there are lots of letter Q's. But I am fairly stumped if truth being told.
Fancy having a go yourself?
I warn you, if you are the sort of person who gives up easily this isn't for you. And you need to be fairly smart. Fill both those requirements and I definitely recommend you give it a whirl. If you do want to then head over to the official GCHQ website and have a go. It's a cool way to not only test yourself and see if it is something you can do, buy also the chance of winning some cool gadgets.
Good luck to everybody who has the guts to give it a good go.
