Free Guide: Use ComicBrush To Create Free Comic Strips

Comic Brush ScreenshotComicBrush is a free program that allows you to create your own free comic book strips. It is fairly simple to do, here is a step-by-step guide and the comic strip I created.

You could create comic strips; just for fun, for friends and family, to publish on your website/blog or for fun on web forums etc.

10 Step Guide To Creating A Comic Strip

First: Visit Comicbrush.com and create a free account.
Second: Login, click the link at the top which says ‘Art Packs’. Then browse thru the genres and click ‘Add To My Library’ on all packs you want (just have them all, might as well!).
Third: Click the link ‘Draw’ and then click the link ‘Create A comic’.
Fourth: Give your comic a name and choose the size and layout you want to use.
Fifth: Click a ‘genre’ from your library, then click the box in your strip where you want to place your object/background/speech bubble.
Sixth: Click the object/background/speech bubble you want to use and it will appear in your box, then resize.
Seventh: Repeat steps 5 and 6 until your comic book strip is full!
Eight: Click the little orange ‘Save’ button in the bottom right hand side. And you are complete!
Ninth: Go to your gallery and choose to show your image in the public gallery.
Tenth: Save your comic strip to your computer and then publish it where you want to!

Usage Tips

  • Let your creative juices flow before trying to create one! Write down ideas, thoughts etc on a piece of paper first. Otherwise if you just visit the site and try and create one like I did you will be short of ideas.
  • Upload your own images. The number of free stock images they provide is very limited. So go find the clipart images, backgrounds, photos etc that you need beforehand, and then upload them to Comicbrush to use.
  • Keep improving, you will never get your designs right first time. Keep tweaking them, moving bits around, trying different images and different wording and you will eventually create nice pieces of work, even if you aren’t a natural artist.
  • Remeber to save your work!

My Comic Strip (attempt!)
Here is the one I created, it is not very funny and not very impressive looking but it was my first go and I only used the stock images they provide.

@carl You will have to contact ComicBrush directly with your problem, we are just a tech blog, we are nothing to do with their service.

I tried to download your free programme. I created a user name, password etc and fully registered. I was told that I would receieve an e-mail to activate the account. However, it never arrived. I tried again to register but got the same result. Can I now receieve my activation as I really want to use your software.
