E-ten Glofiish X650 is the latest mobile device presented by E-Ten Glofiish X650 for 2008. It’s PDA Phone that features GPS and a 2.8 inch VGA display with a ultra-compact format (14.8 mm width. Mobile phone applications fans will be enchanted by the presence of the Windows Mobile 6 Professional operating system, but also by the inter-connection possibilities of the new X650 (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). The lack of 3G is the only inconvenient. Even if E-Ten X650 sports a 500MHz Samsung SC3 processor, the work speed isn’t his strong point because the processor isn’t helped by the RAM memory (only 64 MB). The equipment it doesn’t excell at the camera either (it’s a normal thing for a business class phone), as it’s been given a 2MP sensor, with autofocus.

Personal files can be stored in the internal memory (256 MB) or even on microSD memory cards. E-Ten Glofiish measures 107 x 58 x 14.7 mm and weights 136 g. It will be globally available in two , max. three weeks.

HTC has announced the launch of the third member of HTC Touch product family, the HTC Touch Cruise, which is the first to feature in-built GPS for personal navigation. Built on the HTC Touch and Touch Dual models , this new product offers HTC’s TouchFLO technology that provides finger touch scrolling and browsing of web pages, messages, documents and contact lists.

The new Touch Cruise comes with a super fast HSDPA “3.5G” connectivity plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a 2.8-inch touchscreen and runs Windows Mobile 6. Another important features are the three megapixel auto focus camera, FM radio and Micro SD memory card slot for adding to the 128MB RAM.

Florian Seiche, VP of HTC Europe, commented, “The original HTC Touch has already been a phenomenal success, and the HTC Touch Cruise with fully integrated GPS adds another dimension to our leading touchscreen device family.”
“We firmly believe in the importance of choice ? one device does not fit everyone?s needs ? and we?re proud to have been able to launch three HTC Touch devices since June.”

The HTC Touch Cruise will be available this month, from retailers and SIM-free from HTC.

Processor. The first device on Palm’s new Mobile Companion category of products will be built around a 416 MHz Intel/Marvell PXA27x processor and it will sport a Marathon 2700G graphics accelerator to increase the speed of its graphical user interface and to allow a connection to an external monitor.

Storage. The Foleo will feature a 128 MB of RAM for holding currently running applications, and 256 MB of non-volatile memory but half of its built-in storage will be used by the operating system and bundled applications, and the rest will be available to users. For additional long-term storage, this model will have a CompactFlash slot located behind its battery. The largest card it supports is 4 GB. The Foleo will also feature a SD card slot but as Palm said ,it can’t use high-capacity SD cards so its limit is 2 GB.

Networking. Infrastructure and ad-hoc Wi-Fi networking configurations will supported by the Foleo. Open, WEP, WPA, and 802.1X Enterprise security configurations will be available to users, while WPA2 will not.Any flash drive or standard hard drive that conforms to this profile will be automatically mounted upon connection. It will support both FAT16 or FAT32.

The Foleo Mobile Companion will be released in the coming weeks, although Palm has not yet announced exactly when.

The phone will use a Symbian operating system, together with the S60 interface from Nokia. This model continues the legacy, past down by SGH-i520, which was a big hit if we consider the fact that there were over 80 million mobiles with Symbian OS running on them.

Many details on the specs of this phone haven’t currently been released, but who cares about this phone can do when it looks as stunning as this: smooth curves, shiny silver case and a design that will make that phone weightless in your pocket.

This is tri-band phone GSM/GPRS/EDGE, with an impressive 2,3 inch display, at a 240×320 pixel resolution. It’s camera isn’t very impressive, but with a 2 mega pixel resolution its more then enough for the common user. We also know that has Bluetooth 2.0 support, 2 speakers and a microSD slot. It’s dimensions are 10×5x1.6 cm and weighs 96 grams. The Samsung SGH-i400 will be first available in Russia, and soon be available for the European market soon.

There’s nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to stuffing as more extra features as possible into PDAs, but a PDA with a hidden compartment for a “removable cell phone” is something unheard of before. Nevertheless, one hopeful patent applicant seems to disregard the smartphone concept and thinks that clipping a cell-phone into a PDA when not needed is actually useful. The two devices will of course be able to synchronize information. However, why this “do-it-all’ machine requires two different devices to pull everything off remains a mystery.
The only positive aspect I can think of is the possibility to use your mobile while your nagging friend browses your MP3 collection on the PDA side, but I’m sure this is not enough for the product to survive on the continuously developing market of true all-in-one devices.

Some of you may have a deja-vu when seeing this PDA, that’s becouse it resembles the P525 model, sticking to numeric keypad PDA concept, but adding a GPS and some other small adjustments.

If you guys would like to make yourselfs and ideea on how appreciated this PDA-phone is, let me just tell you that it has already won the iF Design Product Awards, this before it was even launched.

In terms of specs the P526 presents itself in a more then decent way, the lack of 3G connectivity beeing the only big downside, though it is said this drawback will be fild toghether with the next models. It has Quad-band GMS/GPRS/EDGE support for global roaming, WiFi, 2 megapixel camera all in a thin (15.4mm) and light (115g) package. Also the new P526 has a very functional scroll wheel on the left side of the device, together with a very good GPS in the form of the SirfStar III chipset and it’s Windows Mobile 6 Professional compatibily, puts the word “smart” in this smartphone.

Zenum Technologies, a swiss based enterprise, has been working for some time now on a new Pocket PC concept, namely the “Opus Operis”. Sadly, the product wasn’t available on the market, on the suggested release date and is still in development.

From the Zenum new website i could find, that this new PDA has some nice specs, but becouse of it’s delay, it runs on a Windows Mobile 5.0, while other new devices work on Windows Mobile 6.0. Other then that the Opus Operis has the following specs: a OMAP 750 200Mhz processor, 64 of RAM, and 128 internal storage plus a MINI SD of 1GB.

From a connectivity point of view, this tri-band PDA(GSM900/DCSI1800/PCS1900) will offer GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi b/g, and Bluetooth 1.2.

All this, togheter with it’s 2.0 megapixel camera and 2.5″ TFT LCD display, makes the Zenum Opus Operis a mid-price PDA, with it’s likely business target as Europe, as it’s low frequency processor can’t compete in the USA.

The Zenum website doesn’t state a launch date, other then saying it will be released “in spring”, neither does it state anything about the price. A detailed review will be available when the Opus Operis will be launched.

3G connectivity. CeBit is the world’s largest fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions for both work and home environments.

Every year it attracts several thousand international exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of visitors. The ones that will be visiting E-TEN’s booth will be able to experience the company’s latest device that targets consumers and professionals with an active lifestyle, always on the move.

The handset runs the newly announced Windows Mobile 6 software platform that offers new and richer ways to edit documents and e-mails, improved usability and more powerful mobile functions, ensuring that business users will always have the needed tools at hand for increased productivity.

E-TEN’s new handset will come with 3G, HSPDA/WCDMA support. For the moment, the rest of the spec sheet is unknown, but it will be revealed as soon as the handset is on display at CeBit.

The Taiwanese manufacturer will also be displaying their two most recently released handsets, the Glofish X500, a sleek-looking 15.5mm Pocket PC and the M700 that comes equipped with a sliding keyboard.

All of the E-TEN products offer all-in one connectivity with GSM, WiFi and GPS support and include a Samsung CPU running at 400 Mhz and 128MB of Flash ROM. E-TEN’s handsets generally came packed with lots of advanced features, the only thing that was missing up until now being 3G support.

It will probably be a good device for both home and work use, bringing several business specific features as well as multimedia capabilities.

Asus’ P3xx handset will also come equipped with a 2.0 megapixel camera and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion allowing the users to store a larger number of files.
