Renowned for its 7 miles of golden sand Bournemouth is already incredibly popular in England. Now it is set to become the first area of Britain with Superfast Broadband, beaches + superfast broadband = heaven (well almost).
The UK’s broadband is much slower than many other countries, especially those in Europe so this is a welcome bit of news. Plans for Bournemouths new Fibrecity network are being rolled out with 30 houses being connected by the end of March. The whole program is expected to be completed by 2010.
Once installed it should mean speeds upto 10 times faster than residents and businesses currently experience. There have been calls to make superfast broadband access available throughout the UK by 2014. But with the British Government no doubt it will be closer to 2024!
In the meantime, Bournemouth residents you lucky sods! Beautiful beaches and superfast broadband. Right, time for me to sell up and move to Bournemouth for a while…..
